Lama Angden Trek:-
The giant Lama Angden Peak shadows
the lachen village. It can be seen standing right on the
top of the village. This is the shortest and at the same
time most exciting trek in Lachen.
It is a short three days trek. A gentle climb from
Lachen will get you to Lama Angden Camp. This is idol
place to enjoy the beauty of nature, you will see snow
clad mountains all around. Three hours trek from the
camp is the view point, here you are at the base of the
Peak. You will see the giant peak standing right in
front of you.
You can take a quick turn back to Lachen in the
afternoon or day a rest at the camp down below. It is a
newly open trek and there are very few tourist visit
this trek.

Day 3 - Camp to Lachen
The elevation ranges from 8000 ft to 14000 ft, You will
have to get to Lachen from Gangtok which is one day
drive
Zeemu trek / Green Lake :-
Zeemu trek is one of the outstanding and
adventurous trek in the region. Zeemu is popularly known as green
lake trek. The glacial snow peaks surround the region as you
traverse through the valleys. The trek route runs along the left
bank of the Zemu river and passes through the dense habitats of
Silver fir forests, Birch dominated thickets, alpine scrub and
alpine meadows culminate in the Green Lake (15,000 feet).
The highlights of this trek are verdant conifer forests, rich
wildlife, majestic peak of Siniolchu, Tent Peak and Khangchendzonga
and the massive Zemu glacier which is almost 1 km wide and 26 km
long, perhaps the longest glacier in Sikkim. Trek above Yabuk, one
can view the snout of the glacier formed in pyramid shaped from
where the raging Zemu chu originates.
Occasionally endangered herds of Blue Sheep (Pseudois nayur) can be
sighted grazing on Green lake meadows. Other wild animals like
Himalayan Black Bear, Serow, Red Fox, Pheasants can been seen
roaming in the lower belt.

Muguthang Trek :-
Trek to Muguthang begins from Thangu which is
30 km above lachen. This trek provides a fantastic mountain-views,
glaciers, clear alpine lakes, rare flora and fauna as well as areas
rich in wildlife and insights into the life of the Muguthang-nomadic
Yak herders.
Kalapathar is half and hour drive from Thangu, here the road ends
for Muguthang, a 3-4 hours trek will get you to Lhonak la [Pass] and
a gentle walk down into the valley is Muguthang. Here lives the
nomadic tibetain yak herder. This yak herder live through out the
year where the temperature mostly remains below sub zero level
during winter.
Here you can stay with the Yak herder family and watch them making
hand made cheese [Churpi], yak butter and yak milking. You will get
a good glimpse of the North East flank of Mt. Khangchendzonga,
Pyramid peak and many other peaks surrounding you. You will find
yourself lost in the nature. Yak safari can also be arranged on
demand during the trek. Muguthang is 4 days moderate trek.
This trek is recently opened and is close to the Tibet border.
Summer is the best season and the valley remains accessible for
visitors. The villages is visited by a very few tourist till today.

Tarum Trek :-
A half hour drive from Lachen towards
Chungthang gets you to the base of the two hour trek to Tarum.
The initial part of the climb is over steep steps after which
the route becomes gentle. For the entirety of the walk you are
encompassed within the dense green temperate forests, form the
mighty oaks to the slender bamboos to the tall hemlocks and
silver firs. Once you reach Tarum there is a permanent structure
consisting of two rooms, two toilets and a kitchen where you can
relax and even stay for the night. From the comfort of the hut
you can observe the Yellow beaked blue Magpie and Flycatchers,
sing and dance.
A little beyond the hut after crossing the stream there are two
hot springs where one can have a relaxing dip. The one on top is
being the hotter of the two is considered as the male and the
lower one as the female. As per tradition one must always enter
the female pond on the top before entering the male one.
